The glōh facial in Holborn

The glōh facial in Holborn, with our aesthetic practitioner: considered care for your skin at 46 Theobalds Road, with Holborn and Chancery Lane among the nearby Underground stations.

What it is

The glōh facial begins with a conversation about your skin, the products you use and what you would like from the appointment. The aim is to choose an appropriate level of cleansing and surface care for the skin in front of us. The exact products and stages are explained before treatment, including any steps that should be adapted or left out.

If dermaplaning forms part of your plan, it removes fine surface hair and superficial skin cells with a blade. If LED is included, the device and its intended purpose matter: different light treatments are not interchangeable, and results from one device cannot establish what another will achieve. This facial is not a substitute for medical assessment of persistent acne, redness or a changing skin lesion. Skin can react even to a gentle treatment.

How we approach it at glōh

Your appointment begins with our aesthetic practitioner asking how your skin has been behaving and what you use at home. We discuss sensitivities, recent procedures and the purpose of each proposed step. The plan should fit your skin rather than require your skin to tolerate every part of a fixed routine.

We explain what the facial may reasonably achieve and where its limits lie. Where a technique or ingredient is unsuitable, it can be omitted or treatment can be postponed. Before you agree, you will know the products involved, appointment duration and cost. We also discuss how your skin may feel afterwards, including the possibility of redness or irritation. If you are preparing for an event, tell us the date; we will not promise a particular appearance or a reaction-free recovery by that day.

Is it right for you?

A facial may suit someone looking for considered surface care, but suitability depends on the actual protocol. Tell us about active acne, cold sores, eczema, rosacea, recent sunburn, allergies and medicines. Broken or inflamed skin may need to settle or be assessed before any exfoliating step.

Dermaplaning is not appropriate over every skin condition. Light sensitivity, photosensitising medicines and some eye conditions also require discussion if LED is proposed. Pregnancy and breastfeeding should be mentioned so that products and techniques can be checked. If the concern requires medical diagnosis or treatment, a facial should not delay that assessment.

What to expect

Before

Tell us about your current skincare, sensitivities and any recent peels, needling or light treatments. Mention an upcoming event and any changes in your skin since booking. You do not need to add exfoliation beforehand; follow the preparation advice for the confirmed facial protocol instead.

The appointment

Your practitioner checks your skin and explains the agreed stages and appointment duration before beginning. Any change is discussed with you, including leaving out an unsuitable step. If light treatment is included, follow the device-specific eye-protection instructions throughout the session and report any discomfort.

Afterwards

Your skin may feel different immediately, but redness, sensitivity or irritation can occur. Follow the advice on cleansing, sun protection and when to restart active skincare. Avoid assuming that a gentle facial requires no recovery. Contact the clinic about persistent or worsening symptoms, particularly if the skin becomes painful or swollen.
